This is an exciting opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking for the next step in their career development journey. The successful candidate will have both strong analytical and communication skills. The Assistant Accountant will report to the Group Finance Manager and work closely with them on their management accounting and financial reporting responsibilities.
The Accounts Assistant will apply the principles of accounting to provide the financial information necessary for the planning and financial protection of the company. To maintain financial policies and management information systems, as well as liaise with colleagues on all aspects of finance. The role combines local GAAP accounting skills with business management skills and the individual must be able to work flexibly on ad-hoc projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance and analysis of employee expense accounts and disbursements ledgers
- Assist team with Balance Sheet reviews and analysis for senior management
- Assist team with P&L account reviews for senior management and budget holders
- Assist team with the Sales Ledger function, dealing with credit control and liaising with Fund teams
- Ownership of intercompany accounts, liaising with Group entities to ensure balances reconcile periodically
- Assist the team with quarterly VAT return preparation
- Assist team with any other ad-hoc management accounts queries
- Document and oversee improvements to be made or system issues on the new accounting system, Microsoft AX Dynamics
- Document and implement revised process improvements
- Assist with implementation of new Procurement system
- Month-end and mid-month Group cash reporting to plc
- Preparation and maintenance of intra-group loan and loan interest schedules
- Review of month-end and mid-month bank reconciliations
- Assist the team with preparation of annual statutory financial statements
- Assist with data collection by liaising with the fund finance function to ensure year end external audit deliverables are met in a timely manner
- Assist with preparation of annual tax compliance requirements
- Assist the team with preparation of FCA filing requirements
- Complete professional accounting qualification;
