Job Description
You will be a Qualified Accountant with experience of managing finance teams, tasks, and processes. Alongside the managerial aspect of the role, the Financial Controller will also need to be comfortable in a hands on and business facing position, and the successful candidate will need the ability to work in a fast paced and highly commercial environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Mentor, manage and lead the finance team on a day-to-day basis;
- Oversee, manage and run the month end close process, locking off all ledgers and finalizing trial balances of all group companies;
- Produce base management accounts each month for the Head of FP&A;
- Control and own the overhead budget of the group, ensuring spend is adequately controlled and monitored, and variances understood.
- Oversee the processing and payment of overheads;
- Review and approve Purchase Orders, business expenses and credit card transactions;
- Review and approve all Direct Debit receipts and payments;
- Manage the payroll outsourcing relationship - review and approve all monthly payroll administration, and ensure the monthly payroll runs seamlessly;
- Manage funding requirements for the businesses, forecasting cash flow regularly and keeping the CFO informed of funding needs;
- Review and approve monthly accruals and prepayments - trading and overheads;
- Manage the group capital accounting process, ensuring capital items are depreciated as per policy;
- Review and approve all balance sheet control accounts monthly, quarterly or annually as appropriate. Major areas include cash, sales ledger control, purchase ledger control, accrued and deferred trading income/costs, inter-company accounts and tax/salary control;
- Review, approve and submit monthly VAT returns, using established reports and timetables.
