Provide strong advisory support and liaise closely with all divisional Finance teams, responding to any technical accounting and queries in a prompt manner relating to accounting technical issues across the Group.
Assist with the delivery of the half year and annual reports.
Manage audit requests and actively participate in the ongoing communication
Manage and assist in performing deep dives into technical accounting and company reviews – for example annual Revenue Recognition Review for the Audit Committee
Provide challenge and review of technical accounting and company papers from divisional Finance teams
Assist with the preparation of new accounting policies and policy updates for the Group Accounting Manual
Manage the implementation of accounting and company change initiatives including preparation of accounting policy documentation
Review latest industry technical accounting and company guidance and prepare summaries for key stakeholders to achieve high quality and timely implementation of requirements.
Deliver ad-hoc technical training of key accounting and company areas.
Provide key input into the creation of financial reporting disclosures to meet accounting standard requirements and industry expectations.
Manage the preparation of results of accounting change assessments for Audit, Bank, Risk and Steering committees.
Review the work of the Group Technical Accountant and assist in their development
Manage inter departmental collaboration and encourage teamwork.
Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Facilitate cross functional and divisional/subsidiary working relationships.
Provide oversight and direction to employees in accordance with the firm's policies, procedures, standards and SLAs.
Working with key business partners and stakeholders around the business to develop a culture of performance management, improvement and appraisal as a foundation for excellent organizational performance.
Actively supporting the Company's Vision & Values and ensure these are adhered to at all times.
Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the regulatory bodies are carried out to the standards required
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Degree qualified or equivalent; commercially strong and analytical
ACA, or equivalent, minimum 3 years PQE.
Proven track record of delivering effective reporting under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Can demonstrate experience of collaborating with others across functional and geographic boundaries.
Good technical knowledge and a strong interest in understanding commercial operations and the key drivers of value within the businesses.
Previous knowledge and experience of accounting requirements within the finance industry.
Worked effectively within a large, multi-site and complex business.
Relevant experience of financial reporting, auditing, and technical accounting in IFRS, particularly IFRS 9, and FRS 102
