Job Description

The role provides support covering a number of complex fund structures totaling plus various co-investment, founder and GP vehicles. You will be required to take sole responsibility for running these structures efficiently and to best in class standards. This includes the management of third party fund administrators, internal investment teams and other service providers to collate and present information in a timely and accurate manner. You will be assisted by a small funds team who have a deep understanding of how the funds are managed and their obligations. This will be a challenging but rewarding role that would suit someone who is highly organized and can work to the highest standards. The role includes the following:

  • Acting as a fund controller for a variety of fund structures and taking full ownership of the reported numbers ensuring information provided is accurate.
  • Ensuring that all deadlines are met
  • Being a core contact point
  • Management and oversight of third party fund administrators
  • Reviewing and approving fund accounts and IRR calculations
  • Drafting fund budgets and cash flow management
  • Monitoring and ensuring execution of various fund or side letter obligations
  • Initiating and implementing, and maintaining robust controls, processes and procedures
  • Policy writing and identifying and implementing operational improvements
  • Investor reporting
  • Management of external auditors when required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A qualified chartered accountant with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a fund controller or fund accounting role gained in-house at an Alternative Investment fund manager such as PE, Real Estate, VC, Debt
  • Experience of reviewing the work at a high level and detail of external fund administrators
  • Experience of initiating and implementing processes and controls
  • Detailed understanding how a wide range of funds operate
  • Knowledge of private equity / venture capital / alternative products and services
  • Good fund operational or financial background having worked in a PE, VC or alternative fund management group
  • Previously trained and qualified within a firm of accountants
  • Excellent written English and clear verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, attention to detail and able to work to the highest standards
  • Hard working and ambitious
  • Team player and previous experience of managing junior members of staff
  • Proactive and a fast learner
