Job Description
The role requires internal liaison with College staff at all levels, but most notably at the Head of Programme/Department level, administrators, as well as closely working with the Finance team.
- Prepare accurate and timely School, Research Centre and/or Department monthly management accounts ensuring major variances are properly explained and, where necessary, work with Schools/Departments to identify remedial actions.
- Provide financial information, advice and guidance to General Managers and other budget/project managers on a regular basis to inform, influence and help guide decision making.
- Produce reports and analysis which highlight the contribution of academic areas / efficiency operational areas, and work with budget holders to develop a proper understanding of the income and cost drivers affecting the activities of the relevant School/Research Centre or Department.
- Provide interpretation of often complex data, identifying any critical issues and suggesting possible solutions.
- Utilize benchmarking metrics, or historical data to support decision making, where appropriate.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant or finalist, have at least 2 years of working in a management accounting role and have the ability to collect and interpret financial and operational data (e.g. performance metrics) to assess efficiency and effectiveness, undertaking analysis and reporting and making recommendations as appropriate.
