Job Description

The Research Office in the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences provides support for research ethics processes, funding opportunities, financial management and administration of research grants and research-related events in the College.

We are looking to recruit an experienced administrator to undertake a varied role supporting the College’s research agenda as part of the Research Office team. In this role you will:

  • Be part of the daily operation of our research ethics application process and assist the Research Office in the consistent application of the research ethics policy across the College 
  • Liaise with Principal Investigators and assist the Research Office in providing a range of administrative support for the Business, Arts and Social Sciences’ Research Centre’s and other funded research projects
  • Prepare for and assist in the running of research events, such as workshops and seminars which take place throughout the year. 
  • Carry out operational procedures in relation to research project finance systems and processes and liaise with stakeholders including Procurement, Finance, HR and the central Research Support and Development Office (RSDO).
  • You will support research award holders with their project expenditure and recruitment requirements, monitor budgets and help to ensure compliance with Procurement, Finance and HR policies.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

We are looking for someone with excellent organizing skills, time keeping and team working skills who can develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues. You will have the ability to priorities your own workload under minimum supervision and adopt a flexible approach to the demands of a busy Research Office in order to accommodate changes in priorities, processes and IT systems when required. Experience of working in an administrative role in Higher Education or in a comparable large organizational setting is essential. Please read the job description for further details.
