Job Description

You will work with people across the country, including children and young people in care and offer essential administrative and coordination support across a wide range of activity. This role will give you lots of experience of project management, communications, campaigning and event coordination. Previous apprenticeships have been involved in organizing national conferences and producing a film for children in care.

We strongly welcome applications from care leavers, who through personal experience understand what it is like to be in care and will add an insight that will benefit our project.

The role will require weekly meetings in London. The post holder will work 4 days per week and study 1 day per week.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a range of people including social care professionals, volunteers, care-experienced children and young people
  • Able to work effectively as a member of team and on own initiative
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and work within data protection guidelines
  • Ability to study for NVQ independently during working hours
  • Ability to work within Barnardo's basis and values, together with a commitment to and an understanding of equality and diversity
  • Ability to model required behaviors.
  • Ability to priorities own workload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy
  • Understanding of the experiences of children and young people in care and leaving care, and issues which may affect them (Desirable).
  • Some experience of IT systems including the use of word and excel and outlook.
  • Some experience of communicating in a professional environment.
  • Ensure the successful achievement of results through effective planning and management of resources
  • Particularly to the use of IT and willingness to undertake training in order to ensure the competency level required for this role
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues to foster team spirit, commitment to the team and achievement of shared goals
  • Demonstrate professional and well developed interpersonal skills, influencing others and promoting teamwork and collaboration.
