Job Description

We have a fantastic role in our Tax team for an individual with significant compliance and advisory experience to manage and develop a corporate tax team and well established portfolio and larger corporate clients providing a mix of compliance and advisory services.

What you’ll be doing?

In particular we are seeking an individual who has experience in:

  • Large and complex corporate tax compliance
  • Corporate tax enquiries
  • Undertaking tax due diligence reviews and preparing key findings reports
  • International corporate tax issues and structuring
  • Corporate reconstructions / demergers etc
  • General business tax advisory

You will be using this experience:

  • Reporting to the Tax Partners, being responsible for a portfolio of general corporate tax clients
  • Liaising closely with the Accounts/Audit Directors/Partners to ensure a comprehensive service to clients
  • Assisting with building the tax practice by actively promoting the firm and its services to clients and targets
  • Supervising the local corporate tax team
  • Preparing complex returns and reviewing returns prepared by other members of the corporate tax team,
  • Corresponding and dealing with client enquires in relation to their tax issues and liabilities, ensuring any unresolved issues are referred to the appropriate Partner, including the initial handling/ identification of both tax planning and tax investigation issues
  • Maintaining direct contact with clients in the delivery of excellent client service
  • Undertaking client tax work by careful reference to and consistent with the firm’s procedures, to ensure all assignments are completed to a consistently high standard
  • Documenting work in a clear and concise manner, ensuring all working papers are legible, easy to follow and well presented
  • Remaining technically up-to-date with all relevant tax matters and able to accurately interpret and apply current tax legislation
  • Ensuring that work is delivered on time and / or to budget
  • Managing of work-in-progress on all assignments ensuring regular and timely billing and assisting with the prompt collection of debtors
  • Reviewing tax work and smaller assignments undertaken by general practice staff, providing coaching (where necessary) and addressing outstanding issues
  • Being involved in internal and external presentations
  • Ensuring all outgoing work is appropriately reviewed and authorized in accordance with the firm’s Tax Manual.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • CTA and / or ACA/ACCA qualified
  • In due course support will be considered for the Advance Diploma of International Taxation if desired and appropriate for the role
  • Experience of working within practice, with the competence to deal with managing a portfolio of clients and assignments, management and coaching of staff and trainees
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – able to deal with people at all levels
  • Self-motivated and able to show initiative
  • Accurate and able to work well under pressure
  • Good problem-solving skills
