Job Description

The main function of this role is to assist the Finance Manager in the production of the management accounts and business partner. We are looking for an individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and assisting in providing analysis (with support from their line manager) to business managers to aid decision making. There is great potential to progress within this role and take on further exciting opportunities and responsibilities as they arise.

  • Help produce timely and reliable management reporting on a monthly basis by assisting in the preparation of the monthly management accounts
  • Preparation and posting of all month end journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Liaise with the Production Accountant, Production Finance Assistant, and Production Managers to go through cost reports of programmes delivered in the month
  • Preparation of the variance analysis and commentary of actual performance in the month against the budget/forecast
  • Responsibility for ensuring line manager is across all significant margin variances and issues
  • Ability to talk through the month end accounts with the line manager and answer questions
  • Maintaining project codes in accordance with group finance policy
  • Assistance in providing deliverables for the annual audit
  • Other ad-hoc analysis and tasks as required e.g. revenue and cost analysis in relation to key contracts and costs, ad-hoc analysis of production costs
  • Ensure financial information is processed in line with the Finance Department timetable
  • Other process, work paper and report improvements as required
  • Assist in tracking/challenging all costs which have been posted to divisions and ensuring costs are coded correctly
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
  • Assist with billing process, ensuring billing is up to date, timely, and in line with contractual agreements or milestones
  • Assist with ensuring credit card holders are up to date with card reconciliations
  • Ad-hoc special projects as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of accountancy fundamentals essential
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • An organized individual with a logical approach to work
  • Strong Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Ability to create and maintain good relationships with operational managers
  • Positive attitude is essential as well as being proactive and having a professional attitude
  • Willingness to learn and develop in the role and throughout the wider team
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working towards ACCA/CIMA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience in management accounts and working in a media environment would be preferred for the role
