Job Description

The role of an apprentice accountant is focused on primarily completing the AAT qualification, which is dovetailed by on-the-job training. The job primarily will involve the preparation of statutory accounts for a variety of sizes of businesses – sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, and will require up to date knowledge of UK accounting standards.

Alongside this, basic drafting of the associated tax computations will be expected - both corporate and personal. The job will also entail bookkeeping, VAT return and management account preparation using a variety of accounting packages, such as QBO, Xero and Sage. You will be asked to assist your peers with ad-hoc tasks and projects for both clients and for general administration purposes. In the first instance you will be allocated a workplace mentor to aid your development but will later report directly to the client manager in your work group.

  • Computer Literate - to include knowledge of current, mainstream cloud accountancy packages

  • The ideal candidate will be school leaver with 3 A-levels, at grade C and above, or a university graduate with a 2:1 grade.
  • Exceptional graduate candidates with a relevant degree, could be fast tracked straight onto an ACA training programme.
