Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to join the University’s Finance Department, in the post of Financial Accountant. This is a key role within a large finance team.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the University’s annual financial statements, including liaison with the external audit team. They will also lead on production of the quarterly VAT returns for the University and be a point of VAT expertise for other staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of technical and statutory reporting, alongside experience with control processes. A good understanding of UK VAT is also key. These are areas of continuous improvement within the University and the role holder will be expected to suggest and implement enhancements as well as keeping their technical knowledge up to date and engaging with training and peer networking opportunities.
