Job Description
The role will report directly to the Director Portfolio, Assurance and Regulation, be a key member of PAR lead team, but will also take specific relevant direction from the Head of PMO and Head of Performance Governance and Assurance and provide support to the Commercial Director in a customer liaison capacity.
You will proactively represent Rolls-Royce to support the customer base and Industry Parties at MoD Abbey Wood, Barrow-In-Furness and MoD Main building to define and maintain a coherent and common Project, Programme and Portfolio Management (P3M) approach and understanding across the UK’s Submarine Enterprise.
Key Accountabilities
- Providing advice and guidance on Project Management support in the customer environment and providing appropriate direction to the Rolls-Royce team to deliver this requirement.
- Building trusted relationships, sharing best practice, identifying opportunities for improved ways of working and eliminating waste.
- Acting as the Point of Contact for customer feedback on Project Management standards and assurance and as the Point of Contact for Rolls-Royce feedback on customer practice, seeking and realizing opportunities to align assurance activities, particularly in supporting a the 3 Line of Defense approach and independent external reviews (P3M3).
- Proactively supporting the MoD Submarine Portfolio Office (SPO) and the wider Joint Portfolio Office (JPO) activity, working collaboratively with MoD and other Tier 1 IPs stakeholders in the development of Portfolio capability and defining the relevant data and information input in order to conduct critical assessment of the UK’s Submarine Enterprise portfolio status both near and longer term. Accordingly, this role will also draw upon understanding of Requirements Management within the Defense domain, in order to identify and recognize feasible strategic options in helping to steer the ultimate success of the Enterprise.
- Having a strong Project Management acumen and possess proven people and senior stakeholder management skills, able to influence thinking and direction amongst others and operate independently and remotely within the customer organization in order to promote the Rolls-Royce reputation.
- This role will benefit from an existing strong knowledge and experience of UK Naval Nuclear Propulsion Programme and detailed knowledge of the broader Ministry of Defense, Submarine Delivery Agency, Defense Equipment and Support and Royal Navy organizations, operating model and arrangements is essential e.g. ‘How Defense Works’ and ‘UK Defense Doctrine’.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical or science degree or equivalent. Management qualifications i.e. IOM (institute of management) ILM, (institute of leadership and management CMI chartered management institute. Member of recognized institute of engineering, science or management Detailed knowledge and experience of SDA, DNO or MoD. Knowledge and experience of RRSL, Babcock Marine (submarines), BAESS and supply chains.
