Accounts Assistant

Job Description
The practice is a small firm with a friendly team and relaxed atmosphere. It works with a multitude of businesses but is geared predominantly toward owner managed and family business structures.
Duties will include:
· Assistance with preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
· Preparation and submission of client VAT returns
· Assistance with running payroll bureau for approx. 50 clients
· Collecting and collating data for client tax returns
· Assisting clients with bookkeeping as required
· Ad-hoc duties as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Experience of working in a small accountancy practice · Good IT knowledge including Microsoft Excel and Word · A good solid understanding of double entry accounting principles · Knowledge of computerized bookkeeping systems such as Sage 50 Cloud, Sage Business Cloud, Xero etc., and ideally knowledge of Sage Accounts Production, although training will be given. · Strong interpersonal, communication and telephone skills. · Ability to work on own initiative and to effectively meet deadlines · The working week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with an hour for lunch. The job will be based at our office in Ashby de la Zouch, but may from time to time involve travelling to clients, so a full driving license is desirable, though not essential. · Qualification to AAT level would be an advantage. Experience: Accounting: 2 years (Required).
