Job Description
The successful candidate will have proven design and project management experience, delivering to quality, time and budget. They will preferably have experience of working collaboratively as part of a team developing a range of highway projects.
The role will suit a self-motivated individual who is aspiring to take a lead role in project delivery and manage dynamic teams delivering high quality projects.
Job Responsibilities:
An appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the expected standards:
- Production of technical design information including models, drawings and specifications in compliance with UK standards and best practice including DMRB and MCHW
- Development of designs in the project information model
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and clients, using tools for information sharing such as Common Data Environments
- Delivery of all specified project outcomes on time, within budget and to the quality required
- Undertake Health & Safety duties, fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design including preparing designer’s risk assessments
- Managing the workload and the technical management of junior engineers and technicians
- Writing and overseeing the preparation of contract documents, specifications and technical reports as required
- Interface with the Client and other sub-teams as necessary to deliver the work;
- Coaching, mentoring and developing junior staff
We are seeking experienced individuals with the following attributes:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject
- Significant technical design experience across a range of disciplines to DMRB
- A comprehensive knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
- Knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques and procedures
- Understanding of design principles and ability to practically apply them
- Demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety including CDM
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience of managing small teams.
- Experience of preparing written work
- Experience of preparing for and attending meetings with clients and/or statutory consultees.
