Job Description
Review procedures and undertake analysis to ensure that the Museum and all entities are compliant with HMRC guidance and legislation.
Advise other departments on the tax implications of projects and new initiatives.
Prepare other UK/US tax returns e.g. corporation tax returns, customs returns, and payroll related returns.
Compile the year end audit file for the pension scheme accounts and liaise with auditors.
Provide schedules to allow the preparation of the consolidated British Museum annual accounts.
Provide information, analysis and returns, to other bodies .
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
An individual who is confident, with good communication skills and is prepared to accept a challenge and project to develop in the role.
Energetic and self-motivated, able to work independently, and as part of a team.
Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to priorities own workload to deliver against agreed deadlines.
Demonstrates good problem-solving skills uses initiative and proactively seeks alternative methods to resolve issues/problems.*
ACA, ACCA or related qualification is essential.
Experience in preparing VAT returns and good technical knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulatory frameworks.
Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex VAT/Tax rules to colleagues and other departments.
Ability to work under pressure, problem solve and priorities workload effectively.
Understanding of non-profit finance would be preferable but not essential
