Job Description
  • Lead the team throughout month-end processes to ensure reporting deadlines are met
  • Review month-end journals prepared by Financial Accountants
  • Oversee the preparation of UK monthly management accounts as well as the completion of variance analysis and commentary highlighting areas of concerns, adverse trends or issues that may impact the business
  • Ensure the balance sheet is reconciled and controlled effectively through monthly review of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Supervise the preparation of month-end file for review by Group Compliance and Head of Accounting
  • Oversee preparation of cost Centre packs and summaries for use in the wider business, commenting on key in-month performance
  • Work cross functionally between the global finance and other business teams, developing key relationships and influencing multiple levels of the business
  • Work closely with FP&A team on providing the consistent and comprehensive information to the wider business
  • Take a proactive approach to reporting, system and process improvements to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in global finance function
  • Support key senior members of the business including the Head of Financial Accounting as well as the Financial Director with special projects, as required
  • Support group financial departments with special projects and ad hoc reporting requests, as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified with ACA/ACCA/CIMA with experience post-qualification in Financial Accounting or equivalent
  • Previous experience in retail or an FMCG business is highly desirable
  • Excellent eye for detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible in a changing environment and work to strict deadlines
  • A sound understanding of financial reporting IFRS
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of Navision would be an advantage
  • Ability to work hard as part of a growing team
  • Proactive and able to show initiative to constantly improve finance processes
  • Experience of working within a retail environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects with competing demands at the same time
  • Ability to liaise with financial and operational management across the group
  • Proactive and able to show initiative to constantly improve finance processes
  • Ability to coordinate and manage in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
