Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Finance Team. You will build and maintain strong collaborative relationships and work closely and proactively with internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for an individual with strong communication skills, and a proven track record of working with diverse shareholders to deliver results. You will be required to engage confidently and assertively with Military and Civilian staff at all levels and from varying functional backgrounds. You will be encouraged to consider the government ‘Apprenticeship Scheme’ which provides access to professional development opportunities up to and including post-graduate qualifications across a range of disciplines.
The position is advertised for 37 hours per week.

  • Scrutinize and pay Invoices.
  • Maintain records for all invoices paid and reclaimed and reconcile these monthly.
  • Process Civilian and Military miscellaneous claims.
  • Run Oracle reports at each AP and populate data to the relevant management files.
  • Raise monthly misbooking Journals for Divisions.
  • Investigate unexplained costs on behalf of Divisions, including raising queries to DBS.
  • Reconcile monthly payroll against establishment list for misbookings.
  • Investigate and reclaim misbooked payroll costs by obtaining the approval from the parent units and raising relevant forms.
  • Agree and raise monthly invoices for staff on WebIris.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work well on their own as well as part of a team.
  • High standard of IT skills including the use of Excel and Word, and a familiarity with Oracle-based systems (CP&F, PB&F and TM1)
  • Experience working in a finance team.
  • Be able to work under pressure and to short deadlines.
  • Be flexible with work priorities when they arise and manage own time efficiently.
