Job Description
This individual will take on all aspects of financial control, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Your duties will also include financial risk management, particularly as the business grows and expands into new geographical areas.
Working in a startup means that things often change and we adapt to the growing and changing needs of the business. We expect the below to be the bulk of the role, but this may change over time depending on your own development needs, aspirations and the makeup of the team.
- Management of the Financial Control team including support and guidance to help them develop into exceptional accountants.
- Approval of all payment runs.
- Supervision of other recurring tasks such as payroll, VAT returns, etc.
- Attendance at weekly management meetings.
- Analyzing business performance to spot data anomalies, trends, or deviations and escalate so these can be addressed.
- Constantly reviewing the Finance processes and systems, ensuring they deliver optimum efficiency.
- Supervision, review of and commentary on all monthly reporting (targets, flash results, management accounts, etc.) prepared by the team.
- Distribution of monthly reporting to C-suite, board and investors by working day 5.
- Own the annual statutory accounts (and audit) process as well as the claim process.
- Work with external parties (auditors, tax advisors, lawyers, etc.) to ensure all statutory reporting deadlines (accounts, corporation tax, annual payroll/ERS related returns, etc.) are met.
- Cash flow / treasury and working capital management.
- Ownership of share options schemes (grants, exercises, working with lawyers, etc.).
- Integrate acquisitions (including a recently acquired competitor) into the above framework.
