Job Description
  • Managing all accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Billing, Accounts Receivable and the core elements of book-keeping and financial reporting.
  • Preparing and publishing timely monthly management accounts that drive insight on the financial and operational performance of the organization.
  • Managing the delivery of year-end accounts and the relationships with the auditors through to the completion of audited statutory accounts.
  • Completing the quarterly grant claims and the ongoing reporting requirements of UKRI and other funders, including management of the audits needed to validate those claims.
  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, and ensuring quality control in the delivery of those processes.
  • Owning risk management across the organization, including maintenance of the risk register and the stimulation of discussions within Our Future Health.
  • Mentoring junior members of staff, supporting the CFO on exciting projects and instilling confidence from all stakeholders in the Finance department at Our Future Health
  • Working in a siloed environment with no freedom to make decisions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven working experience in a broad financial management role, covering Financial Operations as well as Financial Accounting and Financial Control.
  • Recognized accounting qualification with demonstrable combined accounting and/or finance experience and proven experience outside of practice.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements and in managing relationships with auditors and/or taking an active role in a year-end process.
  • Highly structured and with good attention to detail, and able to produce accurate reporting and build trusted relationships.
  • Pro-active and self-motivated with strong communication skills.
  • Experience/knowledge of government and charitable funding mechanisms.
  • Experience in a start-up environment or in setting up processes and controls from scratch.
  • Experience with treasury, banking and working capital management.
  • Prior responsibility for risk management in a diverse organization.
