Job Description

In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Answering telephones and actioning requests received via online portal
  • Being the representative of the surgery, providing professional but friendly advice and services to our patients. Dealing with patients at the front reception desk
  • Booking appointments
  • Administrative tasks including registering new patients, photocopying, shredding, completing forms and answering emails
  • Using the in house clinical system, EMIS, to deal with the full range of patient queries
  • Filing and retrieving patient records
  • Processing repeat prescription requests subject to agreed protocols
  • Promoting and giving advice regarding our online access system

You will be required to work shifts Monday to Friday with times ranging from 8am to 6.30pm.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Suitable candidates will need to have a similar mind set to fit in with the team and the ethos of the Partners and Managers. We are looking for a receptionist to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community.

  • Previous experience at a GP surgery is preferred but not essential
  • Experience in a customer service or receptionist role is the minimum requirement
  • Excellent team player
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Embraces improvement and change
  • Able to deal with pressure and conflicting demands
  • Enjoys interacting with patients and providing excellent customer service
  • A good sense of humor is essential!
  • IT literate with Microsoft office a must
