Job Description
  • Ensure that dental patient's appointments are appropriately
  • scheduled, rescheduled, or cancelled, depending on the needs of the patients. The dental
  • receptionist’s responsibilities include entering appointments in the dental diary (full training and
  • support will be given) as well as welcoming and supporting patients with warmth and empathy.
  • The successful applicant will work closely with the clinical and administrative staff to ensure smooth running of the clinic and outstanding patient care.
  • Greeting and welcoming patients and visitors to the clinic.
  • Scheduling, rescheduling, or cancelling appointments as needed including arranging emergency appointments for patients who have infection or pain.
  • Assisting patients to fill out information forms.
  • Dealing with telephone queries
  • Ensuring that all patients and visitors are dealt with in a professional and helpful manner using warmth and empathy.
  • Performing general office duties such as answering the telephone, scanning and filing notes.
  • Undertake other duties that may occur from time to time as directed by senior management

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Applicants must have good organizational skills, a range of office skills and experience in working in reception/administration. Warmth and empathy are important as you will have both face to face and telephone contact with vulnerable service users on a daily basis. Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, a friendly approach and being enthusiastic are all required for this post. A knowledge of dental software would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.
