Job Description

The purpose of the role is to provide professional project management resources that ensure technical capability and technology project plans are designed and executed on behalf of project teams in line with planned time, cost and quality. This role will ensure that assigned project managers guide teams through the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control and close out phases of the project, using the agreed GSK standard of excellence in project management curriculum. The role will also be accountable for establishing the process for management of the technology and capability project portfolio including resource and budget analysis to make recommendations to the SVP of MDS with respect to managing future technology or capability project resource conflicts. This may include the generation of capability project portfolio trade-off options or resource requests that can be discussed at relevant governance boards. The role will also be accountable for providing change managers for delivery of key capability projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a newly formed professional project and change management team, ensuring 
  • The generation and delivery of integrated plans for Technology project teams
  • Business benefits of capability programs and change initiatives are well characterized and quantified, and incorporated into delivery plans of project teams including ensuring alignment from project conception through to industrialization.
  • This may include development of short, medium and long term resource and implementation planning across functions, working across Development and PSC functions to ensure alignment
  • Provide the training and personal development in order to sustain a highly effective project and change management capability.
  • Analysis to determine resource conflicts, potential resourcing trade-offs across deliverables, and options for capability program deliveries. Generate reports for analysis by stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present options for technology and capability program delivery to resolve resource conflicts (recruit, externalize, tradeoff against other assets/projects) for the SVP of MDS, suitable for discussion at appropriate governance boards
  • Track the accuracy of capability and technology project delivery resource and budget forecasts versus plan, and use the data to drive continuous improvement
  • Serve as the project manager for either capability or technology projects as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • Experienced in the pharmaceutical industry with specific experience in technical CMC or non clinical safety/disposition.
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience in data analysis and visualization to gain business insights
  • Experience in developing and articulating clear business proposals for senior stakeholders
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders at different organizational levels
  • Prior team leadership experience- this role will have 4 to 8 direct reports
  • Masters, PhD or MBA degree preferred
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification
  • Qualified Change Manager and/or Program Manager
  • Agile experience would be advantageous
