Our client is looking for an experienced bookkeeper to work part-time, 16 - 32 hours per week (offering significant flexibility and the option for occasional home working). Our client operates five independent businesses and the finance function works at group level across all.
We are looking for an individual to join our small team, who will bring drive to their new role. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who is hard working, trustworthy, has good organisational skills, can work independently and is an excellent communicator. You must be able to multitask and turn your attentions to a number of different things – working across five companies accounts calls for diligence and attention to detail. This role is suited to someone who has previous experience and knowledge of bookkeeping.
Duties and responsibilities
Completion of bookkeeping services
Managing sales ledger / Purchase including setting up new customer accounts
Allocating payments and receipts to the relevant nominal account, purchase ledger or sales ledger account
Processing sales, purchase and expense invoices onto the system
Reconciling Debtors and Creditors account to keep up to date
Ability to chase credit card and expense receipts from various users of this and reconcile this in timely manner
Filing documents correctly as required
Dealing with clients and colleagues over the phone
Preparing and sending invoices
Posting & reconciling bank accounts
Some general admin / office support
Work through the overdue debts in a consistent manner and ensure all debtors are contacted
Review monthly overdue accounts and deal with query to resolve it as appropriate
Escalate problematic accounts to management
Negotiating repayment plans where appropriate

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A good standard of English and Math’s, grades A-C at GCSE or equivalent. Be proficient in bookkeeping for purchase and sales ledger. Have at least two years bookkeeping experience. An aptitude for, multi-tasking to consistently meet deadlines. Good IT skills including a high standard of competency in Microsoft Excel Have excellent attention to detail and be a ‘tidy’ bookkeeper. Have sound time management, prioritization, planning and organizational skills to achieve tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and an ability to communicate at all levels. Enthusiasm, self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure. Able to work in a team or responsibly on your own. Experience of the computerized bookkeeping software Xero is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. Eligible to work in the UK. Experience: bookkeeping: 2 years (Required).
