Job Description

Key responsibilities

Ensuring effective planning, directing and coordination of the part of the works.

To lead in respect of matters relating to utilities at any Interface Meetings.

Manage trackers and reporting processes to provide progress updates on packages

Identify and raise any Early Warning Notices at Early Warnings reviews. Draft Early Warnings for team review prior to formal issue by others.

Provide input and advice during the Procurement Process. Assist the Procurement and Commercial Teams in development of budgets and any incentivisation targets.

Input into the procurement of the utilities sub-contractors.

Act as interface with utility companies. Ensure that any necessary network analysis and design work by the utility companies is instructed, and budgets managed with the Commercial Team.

Manage the Utilities sub-contractors in developing the Detailed Design for the works.

Ensure all pre-commencement deliverables are clarified, completed and demonstratable.

Run Progress Meeting with sub-contractors as necessary.

Coordinate with works Construction Team on site.

Establish key energisation sequences for the relocation of new UKPN substations (temporary and permanent)

Develop adoption plan with the Utility Companies, and deliver their reconfigured network back for them.

Manage the delivery of the necessary "non-contestable" works elements.

Carry out necessary coordination with other HS2 Contractors in the area.

Assist in developing an integrated programme for utilities with the Utilities Planner.

Ensure that the competency management process is complied with by the Construction Team and the sub-contractors.

Ensure that method statements, Risk Assessments ITPs, construction processes, engineering specifications, set out and measurements and quality control, certificates and compliances and carried out and recorded.

Specific Safety Responsibilities:

Comply with the requirements of Mace Dragados HS&W Management Plan and co-operate with the efforts to prevent accidents and ill health.

Ensure that the information required to collate CDM Health and Safety file is included in the CDM register.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Degree level or higher, or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically an Engineering discipline. A lower educational level, typically HNC or HND may be acceptable where a very significant level of experience in a senior technical engineering role can be demonstrated. Membership of an appropriate Professional body, typically Chartered member or Fellow of Institute of Civil Engineering or hold an equivalent professional status. 5 years experience as Project or Construction Manager for significant civil engineering construction project. Have an excellent track record of project delivery: safely, to timescale, quality and cost. Have demonstrable experience of leadership, building and motivating teams. Demonstrate excellent presentation, negotiation skills organisational skills, ability to plan and manage own time. Computer skills SMSTS qualification. CSCS Card
